Popfuel is a fully-equipped, professional screenprinting studio - but it's also a cool place to work. Let's take a tour of the equipment and facilities.
The vacuum exposure table can burn screens up to 30" by 40".

It works by removing all the air between the glass, your positive and the screen so you get sharp exposures.

This is where you put the light-sensitive coating on your screens. We use and recommend Ulano QTX emulsion to our members because of its superior sharpness and exposure properties.

The screen drying cabinet can hold fifteen 20" by 24" screens and fifteen 30" by 40" screens, and they dry in about a 1/2 hour.

The washout booth is backlit so you can see how well your screens have developed. This is also where you reclaim your screens when you're finished with them, and wash out any leftover inks. Included is a powerwasher for those tougher reclaims.

The prepress area includes a Dual G5 PowerMac, a Windows XP PC and an Epson Scanner, and both computers have Adobe Creative Suite 2 installed.

Our Epson 3000 commercial-grade large format inkjet printer can print up to 17" by 22" transparencies at up to 1440dpi resolution.

Next to Prepress is the ink mixing area, where you can mix up your water-based paper inks or your Plastisol textile inks using the supplied Pantone mixing guides.

For textiles, we have a 6-colour, 1 to 4 station press with a flash dryer and spot cleaning station. This is where we make all our t-shirts.

For paper, we have two large vacuum table presses that can support up to 30" by 40" screens, for printing up to 19" by 25" posters.

As well, we have a 50-shelf drying rack that can hold 100 19" x 25" posters.

When you're done with your screens for the day, you can just throw them up on the screen storage rack to dry out and be ready for another day of printing tomorrow.

While you're waiting for your screens to expose or your prints to dry, you can relax on the couch, listen to some tunes, have a cold drink or play some pinball.

If you want to keep stuff on site, we also have a limited number of storage lockers available to members on a yearly rental basis.
